Big City life, Truths and Myth

When I was planning my move to Los Angeles I had a laundry list of ideas on how “Big City” life would be. For some odd reason I imagined that I would be robbed or car jacked within the first year and all haters would be left in the small city that I was leaving. Moving to a big city for me was one of the most challenging and rewarding times of my life but not for the reasons I thought. I get a lot of questions from people wanting to move to a big city so I decided to give you guys a list of things I found to be true and false. I hope that some of my Truths and Myths help you guys finalize the purchase of that one-way ticket!

Black Girl In A Blow Bar World

As many of you guys know, I am team natural (no Chemicals, Relaxers or bleach in my hair) and have been so for over the last two years. While the benefits of being au natural are too many to list, I often cringe at the thought of wearing my hair in its natural state. Many of my naturals love the idea of wearing their hair in the kinky coils and curls God gave them and at times I feel bad for not wanting to go all mother “wash ‘n go” with the rest of the team.

Because I do love a good blowout and press, I know all that heat on your hair can lead to heat damage and even worse breakage. In my search for healthy alternatives to the normal process of blow-drying your hair then following the blowout with a flat iron, I stumbled upon blow bars. Now I know what many black women are thinking… “Aren’t Blow Bars for white women”?  To answer that question… Absolutely not! Blow bars are for ALL women, In fact, I was so impressed with the care and treatment of my hair that I decided to share my experience with all of you lovely ladies.

Drunk in the Kitchen? On the Balcony? In The Studio?

I don't know exactly what room Vin Diesel was in when he "Got his life" but it is clear and evident that he found it. I don't know if it was the black and white or the Camouflage of the shorts but I was with it.

In The Business of Everybody Else's Business

It’s been almost a year since I read any gossip sites or tabloid magazines. For some that may not be a big deal, but for me that is HUGE! I was addicted! Everyday some celebrities business was on display for the world to see and I was all up in it hunni.

About Last Night

Last week I had the pleasure of checking out the new date night movie “About Last night”. I'm usually not a movies kinda chick. I very rarely get excited to go to a movie these days unless it’s something I really want to see. After seeing the previews on TV I really wasn’t sure what to expect but I will say I was pleasantly surprised! This movie was hilarious. The story line was very cute and relatable. I recommend you guys make this your next date or ladies night venture.

In theaters Valentines day 2014.

All The Time In The World

Last week one of my neighbors went on a date, and after the date he came to the local watering hole we call our club lounge to re-cap the evening. While I thought it was lovely that my 70 something neighbor was still actively pursuing love, his responses to my questions were a bit startling. I asked him if he could see himself really with the lady and he replied, "she’s taking too long." I asked “taking too long for what?” He said "she was taking too long to sleep with me." I was taken aback… Not only was he very clear about his intentions, he backed his claim by stating that he only has about 12 years left of life so that means he needed to get in and out. He was dead set on having as much fun as he could in the limited amount of time he had left on earth. There was so much running through my mind after this conversation… I seriously was talking to a 70-year-old bachelor. This man clearly had no intentions on settling down and making anyone a wife. He decided to spend his last days having fun with the ladies of his choice.

The look on M.A's face when I'm on Facebook or Instagram.

OBSESSED: 'Yonce

There are people walking this earth that still do not believe that Tupac is dead, but yet and still someone has an issue with Beyoncé being a force…There are people that have never met Aaliyah a day in their lives, get tattoos of her face on their bodies and still take issue with Beyoncé stans.

Closed MINDS Don’t Get Fed!

It baffles me the amount of people that do not eat sushi. I am completely stunned. In all the advancements of modern medicine, people would rather eat five-day-old pizza than to eat a piece of raw fresh fish. And please do not get me started on a steak well done. I cringe every time I see a perfectly fine Filet almost burned to a crisp because someone is afraid of getting mad cow disease.

Online Verified… Who Are You?

Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Vine, Tumbler and so many more. With so many different Social Media platforms we now have 24 hour access to our favorite people on the planet... With all that access to others lives, how many people really know who they are once they log off? I'm not speaking of basic name and location. I mean do you really know what you like or does the number of likes and followers let you know you're on the right track? Are we feeding our egos or are we connecting with like minds?
