Hairspiration & Hair Anniversary

I look like I'm "Working at the Pyramid tonight" hunni!

As many of you know I’m on my natural hair journey. With all the joys of having healthier, natural hair also comes a few down points. This month is my actual hair-anniversary I’m going into my second year post transitioning for about a year. I’m sure many of naturals have gone through that awkward hair moment when your one twist-out away from ending it all and getting back on the creamy crack. Don’t get me wrong… I love my natural curls but the convenience that comes with relaxed hair is nice. So after months of braids and protective styles I wanted to celebrate my hair anniversary with my natural hair pressed as a way to mark my journey.

2nd week of my MN challenge

This is the halfway mark of my 30-day MN challenge and you can see from the pic above that my hair is growing.

Most of us “80’s” babies were on the forefront of the “chemically treated hair” movement. Poor babies didn’t stand a chance. Our parents were putting chemicals in our hair without fully knowing the long-term damage it may cause down the line. We more than likely grew up getting relaxers just because that was all we had known.

More than focusing on growth, I have decided to focus on the overall health of my hair. I believe it is best to have a healthy head of hair before I really get into retaining the length. With that being said, I have been cutting my hair as it grows, so that the shape and body of my natural hair is to my liking.

I will be doing a YouTube video on how I make my MN mixture and how I apply it to my hair.

Natural Hair Journey

I decided to hop on the bandwagon and go all #TeamNatural. Natural hair that is. About 2 winters ago I got a sort hair cut and instead of getting a touch up with a relaxer I decided to let my hair grow out. While transitioning to all natural hair, I just decided to wear various sew ins and I made my own Upart wigs. Since I decided to transition I didn't do a big Chop, I just cut the relaxed ends off as my natural hair grew. Now that I am into my first year of all natural hair I can tell you that in regard to the overall health of my hair, going natural was one of the best decisions I have ever made. A few items that work best for me are:

Organic Virgin Coconut Oil

Loreal Evercream Sulfate free Moisture System Shampoo and Conditioner

Organix Coconut Milk

Both the Loreal and the Organix work great on Virgin Hair Extensions

I use a few more products but I will be making a Youtube video to show my progress and what I use.
