Typically when someone asks me a question like that I would reply with a common cookie cutter answer that would apply to the job/career that I had at the moment. Kinda like those answers we have already prepared for a job interview. Not this time... This time I had an honest answer. I, like many other young folk in our early 20's, really didn't know what I wanted to do in life... I knew what I was good at. I knew what other people told me I should do. I had a general idea of what I did not want to do.
Once I got to California, I saw life being lived the way people wanted to live and my whole attitude towards work and having a career changed. I saw people sitting on the beach "working" from their lap tops. I saw models "working" at events, photo-shoots and night clubs I saw people getting up driving 2+ hours away in traffic just to work and I saw trust fund babies doing whatever they wanted to do and sparring no expense.
So here I am given several different paths to pursue, and for the first time I felt like I could be honest with myself about what I wanted to do...
So to answer my bartenders question "How do you guys know what you wanted to do in life" I replied to her with the most honest answer I had given anyone... I told her to be "honest with yourself". Sounds simple huh? Not quite... You see being honest with yourself about what you want out of life may sound superficial to some... People may think your crazy, or you may already be on your way down that path.
I hear so many women say they want to be single and independent and if that is the path you chose that is great... but if you really want to be married some day, be honest about your desires... There is NOTHING wrong with being in a loving relationship and having a wonderful PARTNERSHIP.
Your dreams don't have to be shared with the world... Protect your dreams! In my discovery I found that once I say to myself what I really want out of life... I find the process of getting there is not as hard as I once thought.
God Bless
